The Five Dysfunctions of a Team

by Patrick Lencioni © 2002

Pat Lencioni wrote this fable based on his experience of working with teams in corporate America for over 15 years.  It became a New York Times best-seller and the 5 dysfunctions model in turn became a household name in the world of business.

Written as a fable, the book tells the story of a fictional company DecisionTech which operates in an environment of poor teamwork and low morale. Its struggle to achieve success and results are played out as Pat describes the 5 dysfunctions and how they struggle and eventually overcome them.

Its’ power lies in its simplicity and insight into human behaviour. The strategy for great teamwork is not complex in fact any team can achieve success but it does require commitment and discipline.

Pat co-founded his consultancy business, The Table Group, in 1997 focusing on high growth companies. Due to the enormous success of his book, including his most recent best seller The Advantage, the group  has recently announced the expansion of its’ consulting business into Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
